Last Saturday John covered a Christmas Parade in the small town of Markdale, Ontario.
I haven’t been to Markdale in a long time so I went along for some Christmas fun, and to see what treasures I could find after we enjoyed the parade.
Instead of reindeer Santa’s sleigh was pulled by two horses. Aren’t they gorgeous?
I wasn’t disappointed, by the parade or by the thrifting.
I found this fabulous set of 6 vintage red mercury clip-on glass birds with gold glitter wings and real feather tails.
They also have gold eyes and beaks.
My research tells me that the double footed (springed) birds are more difficult to come by, and I found a set of six.
They have a kind of burgundyish look to them so I think they’ll work on my pink themed living room tree.
At the same little shop I found this sweet little glass ornament with a kitten sitting in a shoe.
It’s so adorable that I couldn’t resist, and all cat ornaments are keepers.
And these fabulous vintage indented ornaments are marked East Germany on their caps. The colours are amazing! The orange one is kinda cool because I don’t think you see that colour very often.
I’ll be definitely keeping the pink ones and the others will probably end up in my etsy shop.
That’s it for parade day, but I did find a few other things at my regular thrifting haunts for my etsy shop.
Like this set of vintage blown glass Santas or Father Christmasses. Their caps are marked Colombia.
And these glass teardrop ornaments didn’t make it into my shop before posting time, but will be going there.
And I found this fabulous set of 3 Blue Delft townhouses.
This is a set of 3 Blue Delft KLM miniature townhouse bottles. These houses, containing Dutch young jenever ( a type of gin), were presented to KLM flight travelers in business class. Two of them have unbroken seals and I can hear that there’s still some liquid inside them.
Each house in numbered and the latest is #96, introduced this year, celebrating KLM’s 96th anniversary. This lot includes #’s 74, 66, and 53.
They’re all marked on their bottoms.
And who doesn’t remember Scooby Doo?
I just put this 7 ornament lot into my etsy shop and it already sold within hours.
Thanks so much for reading, and until next time… keep on keepin’ on.
