Half Price Christmas Treasures
The thrift stores here start putting Christmas stuff out pretty early.
I’m talking early November.
So by the time half price time comes along it can be pretty slim pickins, but I did still manage to find a few cool things recently.
At half price this lot of handmade straw ornaments was just a dollar.
Not sure if they’re vintage or not. I don’t really know how to tell.
Are these something that crafters still make?
This lot of plastic canvas bell ornaments was just 50 cents.
I love the different red, green, and white combos.
This set of 4 coasters was a dollar. I love the colors of the cars, and it counted as Christmas so it was half price at a dollar.
I thought these milk bottle ornaments were so cute, and they were only 50 cents.
They’re made out of some kind of ceramic material.
I tend to switch out the living room tree theme from year to year.
This year I did the whole tree in vintage wooden handmade ornaments, but some years I do a red and green Santa-themed tree, which all these ornaments would look great on.
Now for my favorite find of the week
This very vintage wooden snowman scene is definitely showing its age, but I simply couldn’t resist it!
I found it in a box of Christmas odd and ends, and it was the only thing worthy of rescuing.
It’s quite small, at only 3 inches across,
And I never would have thought when I picked it up that the base expands to almost 7 inches.
How cool is that?
The pink house definitely means it was meant for me. lol.
It’s marked Made in Japan on the bottom, and I just noticed that the blue-hatted snowman is missing an arm.
But I still love it… age and all.
I think it’s pretty amazing that this piece still exists.
I’m not sure if the candle thingy is original. It’s a little loose on what seems like a little nail.
I think it’s just as old, but it seems a little out of place.
Maybe another adorable little snowman is supposed to be in that spot.
That’s definitely it for Christmas thrifting until garage sale time comes back in May.
And now for something completely different
I found these wooden thingies, and I have no idea what they are.
The set of three at the back was found taped together at $2 for all three, and the vintage looking one was a dollar all on its own.
I can’t resist inexpensive things, especially when I don’t know what they are, and I already have a few repurposing ideas brewing for these.
Unless they’re really worth something.
I tried to research on google and etsy, but haven’ t had any luck.
Honestly, I wasn’t even sure what to call them…wooden hinged thingies? lol.
Research is always easier when you know what you’re researching.
Maybe I’m the only person on the planet who doesn’t know what these are.
It wouldn’t be the first time. lol.
So what the heck are they?
Thanks so much for reading, and until next time…
