Recently Thrifted Finds
During the past couple of weeks I only made it to the thrift store once, but I did find a few cool things.
Like this vintage Rubens Dutch Girl ceramic planter.
She’s in excellent condition and the Delft blue-like decoration is so pretty.
She’s about 8 1/2″ tall, and she still has her label on the bottom.
I found a lot of 48 metal macrame hangers/frames of various sizes. They’re mostly brass colored, but there are a few silver-colored ones.
This lot of Silver plate coasters is marked Germany. There are six matching in size, and two are slightly larger.
They have a lovely scalloped edging, and are so bright and shiny.
And now on to…….
What the Heck Is It?
Then I came upon this gem, and I was so excited because I’ve never in all my thrifting days seen anything like it.
It’s a 29 piece cutlery set made of what I think is brass and a dark wood. It’s a complete 8 place setting.
It has 8 spoons, 8 forks, a salad serving spoon and fork, and I don’t know what that other piece is.
Does anyone know? It’s the piece between the salad spoon and fork.
What the heck is it?
There are 8 knives, and what I think are a meat serving knife and fork.
It still has its original label, Johny’s Gems, and just behind the fork it reads Bangkok, Thailand.
It’s in the original case, which does show some wear, but it could be cleaned up easily.
Every piece in this set has this raised relief on the end of the handles, and it reads SIAM.
I don’t really know anything about this set, so I’m wondering if anyone out there has seen it before.
Thanks so much for reading and until next time,
