A Pickin’ and A Grinnin’
Last weekend was the May 2-4 long weekend here in Canada… and we call it that no matter what date the holiday Monday (Victoria Day) falls on because we’re crazy like that.
I think it has something to do with a two-four and camping, but we are sooo not campers… so what do we do? We go garage saling.
May 2-4 is usually fabulous for garage sales… and this year was no exception. After going out for breakfast (one of my favourite things to do) John and I hit up quite a few sales and found some great stuff.
I was pickin’… and so was John.
He found me this fabulous vintage set of 8 silver goblets in a plastic bag that I didn’t even see.
(I see wind chimes.)
Just look at that patina!!!
To polish or not to polish… that is the question.
How long does it take to create such natural gorgeousness?
I believe in aging naturally and gracefully… like this silver basket vase.
The details on this set of silver candelabra are quite lovely…. and they’re heavy as sin.
And I was a grinnin’ like the happy fool that I am when I found all this silverware.
(I see more wind chimes.)
I kinda have a thing for vintage kitchen items.
I feel like I need to rescue them, and help them blossom into something fabulous… hopefully.
(I see wind chimes everywhere.)
Like my favourite pink tulips that are in full bloom.
And I’m just a grinnin’ all over the place.
I actually found a few more things, but it was getting late last night and I had to cut this post short. Sometimes I need to know when to say when.
Thanks so much for reading.
What has you grinnin’ these days?
You really scored big! That's a lot of silver to find in one day. Your large haul will make many new wind chimes and I can hardly wait to see all of your new creations. Also you tulips are gorgeous. Still waiting for mine to bloom.
What WONDERFUL finds! I love vintage kitchen stuff too! You should definitely come link up at my new Friday link party! It opens every Friday morning! 🙂
Thanks for linking up to TTF @ Melissa's Antiques!
It's all gorgeous. I can't wait to see what you do with it!
Love the round grater and the silver garden basket. So glad you were able to save the silver from the scrappers. Make some lovelies now.
Silver is cool, but I'm more interested in a two-four.
Love all of it, but I really want to see more of that table because it looks like one I am hoping to find eventually! 🙂 Can't wait to see what you create with all the silver.
Blessings, Vicky
Those silverware all have very beautiful craftsmanship.
You were on a silver roll last weekend! I think it's called 2-4 because you are supposed to get a case of 24 beer and drink it around a campfire. It makes camping in frigid temperatures more bearable. LOL
woohoo thats a great haul! I also like to go out for breakfast. I used to have breakfast meetings all the time when I was working sadly it's been a few years since Ive been out.
Congratulations girl!!! So much stuff and I see wind chimes too 🙂
Have fun making something, I can't wait to see what you do!
That is unbelievable. I need to get out to more sales. I don't think Phil would participate though… I can't believe all that silver gorgeousness!!!

Hi! Visiting from Melissa's Antiques party 🙂 Love all your finds. We had a great week-end garage saling as well–so much fun, hunting for treasure.
I would take picking and garage sale-ing over camping any day…especially with a haul like you scored. What beautiful finds. Can't wait to see what you do with them.
