A Thrifter’s Craft Room Confession
I’ve decided that it’s about time for me to dispel the notion that I’m not perfect.
Oh I know…. a lot of you are probably shocked by this confession, but I’m telling you it’s true.
Isn’t this the dream craft room of every perfect person? I ask you?!!!
And doesn’t the desk of every perfect person look like this… a dried out container of home made chalk paint, a Christmas gift bag full of plastic Easter eggs, and a drill that’s sulking in the corner because it can’t even look at me.
Let’s just say I’ve broken a few bits lately.
And every perfect person has a very fashionable banana hanger on their desk. C’mon! And if they don’t already have one… they want one now.
After my craft room makeover last fall this room was a nightmare of organization. See that here.
I couldn’t bring myself to put any of those pics in this post. It was just too depressing!! Who needs all that space?!!
Every perfect person has these fluffy furry scarves in almost every colour hanging about because they never know when they’ll feel the urge to make a scarf wreath, or a scarf tree, or a scarf lampshade.
A girl can never have too many scarves to craft with. Oh but you can’t wear them… now that would be silly.
Would you like some tea?
Only perfect people have teapots in every shape and size waiting in boxes to become useful. The teapots have heard a rumour that I might make them into something fabulous someday, but they’re not holding their tea bags.
Sounds like perfect person behaviour to me!!!
So… over the next few weeks this perfect person is going to be totally reorganizing this craft room, attempting to return it to its former after-makeover totally organized hell.
What can I say? I’m a masochist.
I’ll be doing some posts with some probably perfectly useless craft room organizational tips… so stay tuned. You won’t want to miss a thing.
I’ll never pretend to know everything about anything, but I do know nothin’ about somethin’… and that’s the truth, the whole truth, and nothin’ but the truth!
I’m just makin’ my way day by day… and tryin’ to keep it real.
Thanks so much for reading!
Tuula – if you even SAW my studio right now you would fall into a dead faint! That is my big project for this weekend and it may well run into the next! I have fabric everywhere including on top of the computer desk, under the daybed and in 3 huge plastic trunks. It is insane. I can't find anything so I have to make some headway this weekend. Good luck with your craft room organization project!!
It looks like a Where's Wallie book LMHO while I was trying to find the banana holder !!!
Can't wait to see what you do with it
Have a great wknd Tuula!
Hugs,
Suzan
Oh well, I think we're all in the same boat! At least you can see what you have. I have to go rummaging in container after container. Organization for me only last for a short time. And then chaos comes back. I think I like chaos! It sounds so cute!
Tuula, I have to say it looks normal to me, craft room are only clean on Pinterest and even that is just as they were completed lol. I love your oom it's so bright and happy 🙂
That looks normal to me! Sometimes I see perfectly displayed craft rooms and really wish I could see them when they are actually being used. What am I thinking? I'd really just love to have a desk let alone a whole craft room. Can't wait to see what you do.
Once a month, I totally organize my garage work space. Then, the next day I start a project, move something from the house to the garage, paint a piece of furniture, etc. and the space is right back to its "normal" self which looks much like yours. This week it is actually on the clean sign.
Have fun organizing.
Tuula I can't wait to see what you do with this space. Yes, it needs some attention but once you get yourself in to it I am sure it will be great. Looking forward to its reveal and new found beauty!

LOL…It looks like mine!! Yesterday I placed a mirror I just finished at the top of our stairs (I thought it was out of the way) ..My husband stubbed his toe on it…there were….lets just say some, "interesting" words used. 🙁 Getting ready for my first show I have stuff spread throughout the hose….YIKES!!

Oh, my goodness, Tuula! It looks like my Horror Monster has been to visit that perfect in pink and green craft room of yours. Since you were brave enough to show yours, I may show mine as I AM trying to really, really get it organized this year. You lead, I will follow.
I'm cracking up at the drill sulking and not looking at you!! I'm impressed that you have a "room." If we were staying in our current house, I could actually have a room. Alas, even though our new house is bigger, I didn't give myself a "room."
What's wrong with me?!
And I need my own disrespectful drill.

This looks like my kind of crafting space. At least you have it all in one area. Mine is exactly like that but in every room of the house! LOL

Holdin their tea bags!!…crackin me up! I'm so glad to know that my craft area isn't the only one that gets like this…sometimes overnight it seems!!
I am like that too. Super creative people don't have time to keep things organized 🙂
Oh Tuula. Your posts always make me giggle. You certainly have plenty to craft with. Those tea pots look amazing…too bad they aren't holding their tea bags waiting for their transformation :).
What?! Not perfect?!! I think if anyone had a totally organized and "perfect" crafting space, there wouldn't be much creating going on! I'm looking at my project room floor right now covered with paper scraps when I have a trash can just a couple of feet away. What's up with that? I'm sure you'll do a super job at making it work better for you! Have fun!
