Finds of the Week #66

Happy Thrifty Tuesday friends!

After we went out for our weekly brunch this past Saturday I did a little thrifting, and I found a perfect piece for my upcoming turquoise kitchen makeover that I’ll be doing this coming winter.

vintage blue anchor hocking devilled egg plate

Isn’t it gorgeous?

This vintage Anchor Hocking Fire King devilled egg tray is one of my favourite finds ever.

It’s from the 50s-60s era, and the turquoisey blue is absolutely stunning… not the mention the gold, which highlights the edge so beautifully.

The back is just as gorgeous as the front. Actually I can’t decide which side I love more. 🙂

It cost me just $4, and it’s most definitely a keeper.

vintage silver metal basket stand

This $2 vintage metal basket can be used for so many things.  I have a thing for curlicues and I couldn’t resist those feet.

The darkened patina is so pretty. I can totally see it holding some vintage Christmas ornaments. What about you?

deer-figures-1

We stopped at a church sale on the way home and I found this sweet little vintage reindeer pair for $1. They’ll be perfect for Christmas.

glass junk paper weight

Every junker/thrifter could use a heavy glass JUNK paper weight, and I found mine for just $1.

silver teapot creamer and sugar bowl

And it seems this fall that no thrifting week is complete without me finding some silver plate pieces. I found this 3 pc teapot, creamer, and sugar bowl set at a Salvation Army store and snapped it up.

It’s  been absolutely beautiful fall weather here the last few days and John and I have been busy with outside fall cleanup. The more we do in the fall means the less we have to do in the spring.

We did manage to play a little hookey from the chores to play some backgammon on the back deck by the pond. Winter will be here before we know it so we need to enjoy this lovely fall while we can.

I hope you are too! 🙂

Thanks so much for reading and until next time…

keep on keepin’ on!

  1. Tuula, I’ve never seen an AH egg plate that color. It is gorgeous and will be so perfect in your kitchen. I would have bought all these wonderful finds.

    1. I haven’t either Sharon, and I feel very lucky to have found it. Inspiration for my kitchen makeover just keeps finding me.

  2. Oh I LOVE that turquoise dish!!!!! Glad we don’t thrift in the same area…. I might have had to fight you for that one! Can’t wait to see your kitchen makeover. …I have redone my craft room and bedroom with shades of turquoise/aqua. It’s such a restful color but it manages to keep my creative juices flowing at the same time.

We’re finally getting a few days under 80 so I’m finally getting out in the yard a bit and planting the garden ….total opposite of you! Not many veggies survive the brutal heat of summer here in S FL

    Enjoy your fall!

    1. lol. I did see a few other thrifters eyeing it while I was walking around the thrift store with it. I made sure not to even put it down. lol. I agree… turquoise is a very restful colour, and I’m looking forward to having more of it in my house. Our gardens are getting ready to go to sleep for the winter. Enjoy your cooler temps. 80 sounds kinda nice, and will sound even nicer to me in January when it’s minus 10.

  3. Beautiful finds! Love every single one! Have never seen an egg plate that color! Love the sweet little deer too.

    1. Thanks Florence! Me either, and I scooped it up right away before anyone else had a chance. The good stuff goes real quick. The deer are also a favourite of mine. They’re so cute.

  4. No doubt about it, the egg dish takes the prize this week! But the deer steal my heart! Beautiful here in AZ, days in the low 80’s, nights in the 60’s. If I didn’t already live here, I’d be a snowbird!! Have a great week! Dona

    1. Thanks Dona! The plate was such a lucky find, and the deer too. I know many of us Canadians head down your way to escape our winters. Your weather sounds pretty perfect.

  5. Be still my heart- those reindeer!! That egg tray is spectacular! i would be tempted to display it on a plate rack, backwards, or upside down with a small plant on it. Much too beautiful to only use when serving deviled eggs.

    1. I agree Debbie, the egg plate is so beautiful. I’m going to want it somewhere where I can enjoy it every day. The reindeer are very sweet, and for $1 it doesn’t cost a lot of make my thrifting heart happy.

  6. Gorgeous egg tray- wow, that was a great find!

    1. Thanks Tina! I feel so lucky to have found it. Sometimes stuff can make you happy. 🙂

  7. I love those egg plates and have only seen them in white and gold. That aqua is gorgeous!! Great finds! I am envious of the little reindeer. I have been collecting vintage deer……

    1. Thanks AnnMarie! I made a garden plate flower with a white and gold one that was slightly worn and sold it in my etsy shop. It was so pretty. I’ve never seen this colour before either and probably never will again. The deer are very sweet and were such a great price. I couldn’t leave them behind.

  8. I think that egg plate will definitely be the perfect decoration for your new kitchen, Tuula 🙂 Nice find, as are all the others. Thanks so much for being a faithful party-er and linking up with Vintage Charm–

    1. Thanks Diana! I’m now on the hunt for all things turquoise. As if I needed more things to look for. lol.
