October Overhauling: Craft Room Makeover Progress
Craft Room Reorganization
To say that my craft room is reorganized would be stretching the truth a bit… well, a lot actually. lol. Since it’s almost empty. But, I have been working my fingernails off.
I had to empty the room of almost everything so I could repaint the ceiling and the walls, and that was a lot of stuff. See before pics here. Now my upstairs hallway and bedrooms look like an episode of Hoarders. Scary! lol. It’s hard to imagine that so much stuff came out of such a little room ( 8′ 8″ x 11′). And I have to put most of it back into this same room. Talk about a challenge!
The only things that stayed in this room were my desk, computer equipment, and a few small bookshelves. I had absolutely nowhere to put them, so I had to move them around the room as I repainted the walls. What a work out! Whew!
I did manage to reorganize my spray paints, which have been kept in several different places (don’t ask me why), and some other painting supplies into this shoe organizer that I found in my bedroom closet still in its package. This works just great, and it’s so nice to see them all together in one place.
Here’s what this corner looked like before. The closet is still full of stuff that will be reorganized after I’m finished decorating.
Here’s what it looks like now.
Here’s what this corner looked like before.
Here’s a sneak peek at the new wall colour. This apple green is so much warmer than the pale blue. Exactly what I’m looking for. This room faces north west and the blue made it feel cool in the winter. I want to feel toasty when it’s snowing outside.
I plan to build two 8′ tall MDF bookshelves for this area. I already went to the Home Building Centre, where they cut the pieces for me to my specs. It’s so great that they’ll do this for customers. It saves a lot of time and trouble.
But, first I have to take care of the floor and finish my craft desk makeover, and bring up the wardrobe that’s been sitting in the living room waiting for a buyer on Kijiji. It turns out to be a good thing that no one wanted it because I’ve decided to repurpose it into a computer armoire, which means another complete makeover.
I also need to add window treatments, makeover my large cork board, and add a bunch of storage solutions and decorative touches. I even made a list! I hate it when I make lists because then I have to stick to them. lol. I can’t help it. I have this need to check things off. The problem is I have a bad habit of adding more things than I check off.
So, now this overhaul is snowballing almost to the point of required intervention. lol. I keep telling myself that if I’m doin’ it, I’m doin’ it all the way down the mountain, picking up speed as I go… and loving it.
Thanks so much for reading!
