The Thrifting Gods have Smiled on Me
Let me let you in on a little secret… this pink lady has an amazing husband, and this story is just one reason why.
John found me a pink wing chair that he thought I’d like at a used furniture store. He knows me well so on Saturday we headed back to the store where I tested it out… boots off, coat off, legs up and curled beside, and cross legged, and yogified. You know… to make sure it was comfy enough for reading and watching TV… most likely with a cat or two.
It was good. I liked it and I was pretty sure we were going to buy it, but I decided to walk around the store for a minute to think about it.
And then I saw it…. and it was “love love love” at first sight.
I literally could not believe my eyes. John hadn’t seen it when he spied the wing chair because he didn’t walk around the whole store.
It was a gorgeous antique shabby chic wooden settee in cream, pink, french rose, and green… my master bedroom makeover colours.
GET OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What are the freakin’ odds?!!!
In all my years of visiting thrift stores, flea markets, junk shops, garage sales, and auctions… I have never seen anything quite like it.
The fabric was perfect.
The finish was perfect.
And I didn’t feel like a giant when I sat in it. Yay!! If you’ve ever sat in one of those sweet but teeny antique settees you know what I mean. (I have one in my living room.)
But this one was perfectly sized. Perfectly comfy. Perfectly perfect.
Perfectly me.
And…
…it came with a large wrought iron ottomon.
Be still my thrifting heart!!! I almost couldn’t stand it.
The ottomon isn’t a perfect match mind you, but who cares?!!! Not me, that’s for darn sure.
Look at those legs!!!
They’re curvy no matter which way you look at them.
LOVE!!!!
There was no price on it, and because I’m a girl who 99.999999% of the time buys the before… not the after, I told John that I was sure it must cost more than I’d be willing to spend
Even though I was playing it cool he could tell how much I loved it. So he went to have a chat with the storekeeper while I walked around pretending to look at stuff… trying to look all nonchalant with that “I don’t really care one way or the other” kind of wandering.
And my hubby finagled a deal, and Christmas arrived early for me right then and there.
Yay!! Yippee!!! Whoo hoo!!! Hee Hee!!
I thought my heart was going to jump right out of my skin because it was happy dancing all the way home in the truck… and it’s still happy dancing.
Yay!! Yippee!!! Whoo hoo!!! Hee Hee!!
I am one very lucky pink lady… in more ways than one.
Later this week I’ll be sharing something I made on Sunday to go with this set.
Thanks so much for reading and until next time… Think Pink!

I think I would also be doing a happy dance if I had found something like that.

What were the odds that it would go with your bedroom? What a happy find!
This is absolutely amazing – what a perfect match! Just gorgeous! What are the chances? Like Feral said, you need to buy some lottery tickets! Whoop, whoop!

S C O R E! I am wondering who would let that ever leave? She's beautiful!
I don't know Julie, but I can safely say that it's never leaving me. lol. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Happy kitty dance, for sure!!! I knew that funky floral would find a perfect companion. What a wonderful find that has "Tuula" written all over it. BTW – did you get the other chair too?
It's like they CUSTOM MADE IT for you!!!!! LOVE!
Well, GoldiLocks…you've done it! 😉 It does look like it was custom made for you!
Your ottoman had another life as a coffee table, I believe. I had an end table and coffee table exactly like this in the 90's. I bought them at Bombay Co. I loved them for those legs!
I was so thrilled at your "gift", I forgot to thank you for bringing it over to Make It Monday!
Oh MY GOODNESS!!! That is an amazing find, oh I am totally jealous, Merry Christmas it's gorgeous!
Wow, what are the chances of finding something so perfect? Both of these pieces have great bones and the best part is they're all ready to go! I'd be doing the happy dance too. Thanks for sharing them over at Vintage Inspiration Party.
