Thrifted Finds and Rescues

I realized the other day that I haven’t shared any thrifted finds in quite a while. I’ve been very good at trying to only thrift one or two lunch hours a week, and I’m still finding some great stuff.
Like this wrought iron grapes candle holder.

I have no idea why but I have a thing for vintage aluminum, and if it’s embossed with roses that’s even better. These were all found as separate pieces, but they all share the same rose pattern.

I fell in love with the ironwork on these spice cabinet doors.

And this shelf has a real medieval look. It has great details, but seriously needs some spray paint love.

And last but not least this set of mid-century side tables that I had to bring home from the dump. Oh yes… had to.

They were sitting sort of off on their own like someone had placed them there hoping they’d be rescued.

Thank goodness I came along and couldn’t resist.

I didn’t even clean them up before taking this photo, and I didn’t pick the weeds growing in my greenhouse either. This is real life folks, and sometimes it ain’t pretty. lol.

I can see a few makeovers in my future.

I just started a project that involves some other dump rescues, but the weather is too nice to stay inside so it’s slow going. We have to enjoy the sunshine and warmth while it’s here because winter will be here all too soon.

I hope you’re enjoying some fabulous weather too.

  1. Today it's gloomy and raining. I had planned on starting a craft project but haven't been in the mood lately. But looking outside, it's a lazy, hazy day! Love the ironwork on those doors! That's a lovely piece to re-do!

  2. so many great finds (except those tables! lol I remember those…) I love that first piece. I just found an old wood & brass chandelier that I'm going to make over. Don't you just love taking something found and making it over??

    1. Hi Barbara Ann: I probably won't be painting the tops of the tables just because they're laminate. I'll be doing something else with them. Sorry, but I can't say right now. I have had good cluck in the past with using a spray paint and primer combo on laminate, but it's best if it's a piece that won't get a lot of use.
