Upcycled Denim Flowers from Jean Seams
Upcycled Denim Flowers, Quick & Easy
It’s easy to make lovely upcycled denim flowers from old or thrifted jeans

These denim flowers are easy to customize for many different looks. I’ll share three more versions with you at the end of this post.

So I had this pair of old and worn out jeans that weren’t allowed off the property, but that I still loved to wear around the house.
When the zipper went recently I had to face the fact that they were done. Honestly, they should have been retired quite a while back, but they were so comfy.
So what’s a girl to do when a fave pair of jeans is no longer wearable?
Well, she upcycles them of course.
For today’s denim flowers I’m just using the jeans seams. I’ll save the rest of the usable denim for future projects.
Cutting your jean seams

STEP ONE: Cut your jean seams from the sides and bottoms.

STEP TWO: Cut your jean seams to the lengths you want.
So that I could make my denim flowers in three different sizes, I cut my jean seams lengths to 5 inches, 4 1/2 inches, and 4 inches.
How to create an easy jean seam flower

STEP THREE: Glue the the ends together to create loops. I used my low-temp glue gun to do this.

STEP FOUR: Put a little glue a the end of a loop and attach each new loop one at a time. Be careful not to use too much glue.

STEP FIVE: Continue to add all your loops until they look like the photo above. I found that nine loops worked well for all three of my flowers.

STEP SIX: Add a dab of glue to the final end and pull the other end around and press together.

Your jean seam flower should look something like this.

Here are my three different sizes.
Once your flower is done, this is where the fun starts. You can prettify these upcycled denim flowers any way you like.
Supplies needed to create upcycled denim flowers
- jean seams
- glue gun
- scissors
- decorative embellishments for flower centers
Embellishing jean seam flowers

Here I used some crocheted doily flowers leftover from my flower heart wreath, and some clip on earrings from my costume jewelry crafting stash.

Here I used the same clip on earrings, but I paired them with knitted yoyos.

Another version is just to use buttons. Easy Peasy.

These denim flowers are wearing more bits and pieces from my crafting jewelry stash as their centers.
The largest flower at the top has a lovely silver brooch with little pearls in the middle. The bottom left flower has a rose-shaped metal piece from a broken belt; and the bottom right flower has a silver metal earring with a pearl center.
You can truly make these denim flowers suit your own style by adding whatever embellishments you love.
It would be greatly appreciated if you would pin this project to your favorite Pinterest board, and also share it with your friends.

Just like my DIY beer cap flowers, you can use these denim flowers in so many ways.

These are really cute, Tuula! They would make cool boho magnets on a magnet board or fridge. But they’d also be cute embellishing a jean jacket or fabric purse too.
