Vintage Cookie Cutter Christmas Ornaments
It’s so easy to create pretty Christmas ornament from vintage cookie cutters
From December 1st to December 23rd I’m sharing three Christmas projects per week, for Twelve Days of Christmas Projects.
Welcome to Day Nine!
You can find links to the other projects at this end of this post.
Vintage cookie cutter ornaments are so much fun to create and they can be decorated with so many things.
This is a pretty easy project, and you can use whatever bits and pieces you have.

I pulled a bunch of jewelry bits and pieces from my stash because I wasn’t sure what I was going to use to glitz up these three vintage aluminum cookie cutters.
When I started this project I was using a tree, a star, and bell cookie cutters.
But somewhere along the line I misplaced the bell.
I couldn’t find it anywhere. I looked and looked, and I finally gave up so I could move on with the project. I’m sure it’ll show up when I least expect it.
You’ll see what I replaced it with later on.

The first thing you have to do is flatten the handles of the cookie cutters. This is easily done with a hammer.
Making vintage cookie cutters into ornaments

Then you fill the cookie cutter with a light layer of white glue.

And then you drop in your beads and baubles, or whatever you’re using, to fill up the cookie cutter. For the tree cookie cutter I’m using plastic faux pearls and irridescent beads.
Once all your beads are in place you let it dry for at least 24 hours. Maybe more if you used too much glue.
The white glue dries clear so you won’t see it when you’re done.

I filled the star with faux rhinestones from a broken bracelet.
Don’t worry if whatever you use doesn’t fill every inch of your cookie cutter. It really doesn’t have to.

When these two were done I really thought they needed something more. It just seemed to me like something was missing.
Adding decorative touches to cookie cutter ornaments

So I dressed them up with some sparkly pipe cleaners using hot glue.

I hot glued jute twine to the backs of the vintage cookie cutter ornaments for hanging.
Jute twine is one of my favorite things, and it pretty much goes with everything.

Because I couldn’t fine the bell cookie cutter, I replaced it with a smaller star and I filled it with two tones of mini gold bells. And the bells actually work.
Supplies needed to make these Vintage Cookie Cutter Christmas Ornaments
- cookie cutters
- misc beads etc
- pipe cleaners
- white glue
- hot glue gun
- hot glue sticks
- jute twine

And here are my finished vintage cookie cutter Christmas ornaments hanging on my tree.
They really sparkle, and the bells actually tinkle if you shake the little star.

The creative possibilities with these ornaments are really endless, depending on what you use to fill them.

I hope this project has inspired you to create some vintage cookie cutter Christmas ornaments for yourself.

They would make great gifts, and could also decorate Christmas packages.
It would be greatly appreciated if you would pin this project to your favorite Pinterest board, and also share it with your friends.

So very cute!!! I’ll be so glad when Christmas is over so I can start making some of these ornaments! Oh, wait, that’s not how it’s supposed to work is it? hehe Well, there’s always next year! I need to get out a fill up my stash!
Thanks Dona! I’m always hanging onto project ideas for next year so I totally get that. 🙂
Maybe one of your feline babies decided it needed a bell cookie cutter for Christmas. LOL Those cookie cutters bring back memories. Many a cookie was made with the same cookie cutters growing up. Cute idea turning them into bling ornaments!
lol. Now that is a very real possibility Marie. 🙂
