Vintage Measuring Cup Shadow Box Angel Ornaments

I often buy things at the thrift stores that I love or find interesting even though I don’t know what I’m going to do with them.
But when I saw a vintage aluminum measuring cup set recently that was not the case. I knew right away that they would be perfect as shadow box Christmas ornaments.

That same day I found three sweet little angels, and they fit perfectly inside the measuring cups. How lucky was that?

The first thing I did was apply Mod Podge to the inside of the measuring cups.

Then I sprinkled  the inside with white snowy glitter, and then just a hint of red just for fun.

I did three layers of glitter, with Mod Podge applied in between each layer. The MP goes on milky white but it dries clear.

Here they are after all three layers were done. The outside of the cups will be left natural.

I wanted to dress these up a little so I added some faux glass pearls around the outside with E6000 glue.

I glued the angels in place inside the cups, tucked in a little bit of quilt batting for a snowy cloud….

  5. Of course I love these – there are angels and there are aluminum measuring cups. I did not know to go over the top of glitter with Mod Podge. Does it keep it shiny and stable? Love the way they look on the tree.
